Introduction
Agra Climate Agra is mentioned in the ancient epic Mahabharata as Agraban, the sister city of the more prominent Mathura. It is located in Uttar Pradesh state of North India. Agra was established in 1475 by Badal Singh and came into its own when Sikander Lodhi of the Lodhi dynasty chose it for his capital because of its proximity to the Yamuna. Babur defeated the Lodhis to capture not only Agra but also to lay the foundation of the Mughal Empire. Agra is the city of the Taj Mahal and other popular historical monuments, some 200 km south of Delhi city. Here we can find semi-arid climatic condition which means impact of summers and winters is more than monsoon season. While visiting this region, we will notice that it is plain region with no mountain ranges and its vegetation is also not so dense.

Climatic Conditions
Agra is located on the Ganga plain and has a continental climate, with very hot summer weather and cool winters. The city has a very similar climate to the nearby capital of Delhi. The weather and climate in Agra is characterized by great variations. Hot summers, heavy monsoons and cold winters characterize the various seasons in Agra. Having a tropical and extreme type of climate, the seasons in Agra can be broadly divided into three.

Summers in Agra
The summer season extending from the month of April to June. In summer (April to September) temperatures can reach as high as 119°F (48°C), and hot, dry winds prevail. Agra is reputed to be one of the hottest cities in India and for those unaccustomed to hot weather and extreme humidity it is uncomfortable in summer. During summers, here we will experience heat waves in months of April- May- June. During this time, tourists prefers to undertake sightseeing in morning and evening hours. In afternoon time, they prefers to spend time in their hotel.

Winters in Agra
Agra winters prevails from November (last week) to February month. This is considered as the best time to visit Agra. In this preiod we can find average temperature about 57°F (14°C) during the day, but may fall below freezing at night. Majority of Foreigner tourists prefers to visit Agra in this period. From last week of December to Jan month, we can experience fog situation in this region, which often causes delays in trains and flights. As in Agra, most of the sightseeing places are historical monuments and gardens in which visitors remain under direct sunlight so winter climatic condition is considered as most ideal time for city tour.

Monsoon in Agra
The month of July (last week) marks the commencement of monsoon in Agra, which last almost till October month. The rainy season comes as a relief from the hot summers, to the people of Agra. As mentioned that Agra lies in semi-arid region so rainy season is not a challenging period for undertaking city tour. Usually Agra do not receive heavy rainfall or flood like situation so tourists can plan city tour in this period also.

What to Wear
As we have discussed Agra climate and weather information in above paragraphs, so tourists are advised to choose their dress according to climatic condition. During Agra sightseeing, we recommend to wear woolen clothing in winters with cap and sunglasses. During summers, this region comes under heat-waves effect so we recommend you to wear full-sleeves cotton clothing to protect from severe heat waves and exposure to direct sunlight. Although their is no declared dress-code for visiting Agra monuments but being majority of them are tombs, mosques, mausoleum so in order to respect sentiments of other religious people, we recommend you to wear full-sleeve clothing, not so shiny dress.
