Introduction
Agra tourism Agra is a popular tourist destination located in Uttar Pradesh state of North India. World famous Taj Mahal is located in this city thus it is also called "City of Taj Mahal". It lies in 210kms south of Delhi city, which is also a capital of India. Agra is on the bank of Yamuna River even Yamuna increases the heavenly beauty of Taj Mahal. It is a historical city and one time power center of India.

Short History
Famous Mughal dynasty ruled over large part of India with its capital in Agra. If we go by Agra history, we will find that Agra has its ancient name of "Agravana" during Mahabharat era and "Arya Griha" In Vadic Age. But it was Mughals who introduced Agra city to rest of the world and made it a power center of India. It was Lodhi dynasty which found Agra as a suitable choice for capital of Lodhi dynasty. He shifted capital from Delhi to Agra In 1504 and thus this city emerge prominently in world map. Mughal Empire came in existence in 1526 led by Babar. Rulling Preiod of Shahjahan was the golden age of Mughal architecture between 1628-1658. Agra city is on the bank of Yamuna River which is lifeline of this city as it fulfills water requirement of city. Famous Taj Mahal building is on the bank of Yamuna river which increases its heavenly beauty and makes it more photogenic. The last Mughal emperor was deposed in 1858 by the British East India company and exiled to Burma.

A Major Mughal contribution was their unique architecture. The main tourist attraction in Agra are Mughal contribution as Taj Mahal, one of the seven wonders and declared as World Heritage site from UNESCO and Other World Heritage Sites include Humayun's Tomb, Fatehpur Sikri, the Agra Fort, Sikandra monuments, Chinni ka Rouza, Jama Masjid also known as Friday Masjid Itimad-Ud-Daulah's Tomb. In Agra City there are well known Mankameshwar Mandir Related to God Shiva and Soami bagh is the Hindu religious tourist attraction and on the other hand, for the nature lover there are many Gardens As "Ram Bagh" old Name was Aram Bagh And Mehtab Bagh Which is also called as Moonlight Bagh. Babur died in Aaram Bagh and his body was kept here before sending it to Kabul. These tourist attractions plays important role in giving reason, why to visit Agra.

Events
Taj Mahotsav is a big cultural event of Agra. It also figures in tourism calendar of India and many tourists decides their travel dates according to Taj Mahotsav to witness this event and to be part of event. This Cultural Bonanza was started in 1992. It is 10 days long carnival of India’s vibrant and rich art, craft, culture, cuisine, dance and music. Often it takes place in the month of Feb or March. It is decided by the Tourism department. Tourism department is trying to promote many other such events to promote tourism in this region and recently added Balloon festival is one in such list. These festival attracts large number of Indian and foreigner tourists in Agra.

Shopping
Shopping in Agra is also a pleasure for tourist because of handicrafts of India. There are many good shopping places in Agra like Sadar Bazar, Subhash Bazar, Kinari Bazar, TDI Mall, Raza ki Mandi, Shah Market, Shahganj Market, Sanjay Palace, Shoe Market Etc. After visiting heritage monuments, tourists can spend their time in shopping to get glimpse of Indian culture through handicrafts, artistic showpieces, painting work, sculpture art etc.

Economy
Economy of Agra also has a quite vast industrial base. Tourism industry plays big role in Agra’s economy from the income of hotels and guides and tourist vehicles. On the other hand, there are many small scale industries about to 7200 industries as well as cotton textile, stationary, leather goods, wood paper products, metal products Etc. Handicraft of Agra is also very famous like marvel, zari, zardozi, inlay work, stone carving, and carpets too. Shoe industry of Agra is well known. About 65% of India’s total requirement of shoes is supplied from Agra. Also there are 70 export units in Agra. Which has a total export turnover of approx 4500 million till 2017-18.
