About Mosque
Jami Masjid tower is made up of five distinct story's, each marked by a projecting balcony. The first three storey of the tower are made of red sand-stones, the fourth is made of marble, while the fifth is made of sandstone again. It is reached by two large gateways approached by broad flights of steps on the south and east sides. On east side, it is called Badshahi Darwaza or Emperor's Gate as Emperor Akbar passes through this gate on every morning basis. The other gateway on the south is the majestic gigantic "Buland Darwaza" (Lofty Gate) which itself is a famous tourist attraction. Inside the courtyard, we can find vast courtyard, surrounded by cloisters on three sides and fourth side i.e. west side is Prayer Hall. Here we can find the Sheikh Salim Chishti tomb on north side of courtyard. Close to this tomb, on the east, stands the tomb of his grandson Nawab Islam Khan. Similarly on north-east side, we can find a vault called Zanana Rauza, containing the graves of the ladies of Chishti family.
